Bedwas RFC’s Bridge Field has been flooded

Sports clubs across Caerphilly County Borough have been urged to act quickly, with grant funding to help those affected by recent storms now open.

A Sport Wales storm damage fund has been made available until 4pm on Tuesday December 17, which will allow clubs to apply for grant funding ranging from between £300 and £5,000.

The funding is available to support local sports clubs and not-for-profit community organisations affected by storms Bert and Darragh.

The fund can be used to cover essential recovery costs, including repairs to facilities, clubhouses, infrastructure, fixtures, fittings, flooring, and furniture, as well as replacement of damaged equipment, pitch works and utilities repairs, cleaning costs, and replacing white goods.

Councillor Chris Morgan, cabinet member for leisure, said: “This new funding from Sport Wales is a vital lifeline for community sports clubs that have been impacted by recent storms.

“It will help clubs recover and continue delivering valuable opportunities for people to stay active and connected. I encourage all eligible organisations to apply as soon as possible to ensure they don’t miss out.”

Applications will be processed within four weeks, although this will depend on the volume of submissions received.

Clubs and organisations are urged to act quickly and submit their applications before the deadline.

For more information or advice on the fund visit the Sport Wales website for full details. Alternatively, contact Sport Caerphilly at sportcaerphilly@caerphilly.gov.uk or 01495 235497.
