Plaid Cymru councillor Lindsay Whittle has bought a second-hand wheelchair and is offering to loan it out to residents.

Penyrheol, Trecenydd, and Energlyn councillor Whittle said: “I’m sometimes asked by constituents if I have a wheelchair they can borrow on a temporary basis, perhaps a day or a week. Because of the requests, I went to a recycling centre and bought one.

“So I’m planning to offer it to anyone in need at no charge. All I ask is for a £20 deposit which will be given back on return of the wheelchair.”

The Plaid Cymru group leader continued: “Buying a wheelchair for a temporary period can be expensive so I thought I would help out.

“Since I mentioned to other colleagues they have contacted me offering other items, such as a wheelchair for adults and for a child, a zimmer frame, even toilet seats.”

“If anyone local would like to loan an item please contact me on 07792 376403,” added Cllr Whittle.
