A football club were forced to postpone their match over the weekend after the council tore-up their home pitches during “planned maintenance work”.
In a post on social media, Blackwood Town BGC said they were “very disappointed” to find both their home pitches at the Bryn Playing Fields, Pontllanfraith, “unplayable and dangerous”.
As a result of the damage, Blackwood Town were forced to call off their senior game on Saturday February 8.
However, Caerphilly County Borough Council has promised to repair the pitches ready for the weekend.

A council spokesperson said: “Our staff work hard to maintain playing fields and sports pitches across the county borough.
“Unfortunately the Bryn Playing Fields suffered superficial damage recently during planned maintenance work and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
“Staff will be on site this week to roll the surface to ensure that the pitch is playable this weekend.”
