Friday February 21

🎤 Comedy night at Newbridge Memo. Doors open at 6.30pm with performance at 7pm. Hosted by Mike Reed, the bill is Col Holwarth, Kirsty Davies, and Chris Chopping. Tickets are £10 and can be bought from the Memo’s website.

🤠 Bourton’s Live Music Venue, High Street, Bargoed, is presenting a night of folk music from The Blessed Crow. Free entry starting at 8pm with tapas served between 7pm and 9pm. Call 07547 356595 for more information and to reserve a table or email bourtonsbar@gmail.com

🗡️ Truly, Jack the Ripper at Blackwood Miners’ Institute at 7.30pm. In this theatrical shocker, award-winning actor Jonathan Goodwin plays different characters as we explore the murders and the myths of the infamous Jack the Ripper. Ages 14+. Tickets cost £15 and available online.

Saturday February 22

🎸 Tribute band Roxette UK is at Crumlin’s Patriot. Doors open at 7pm (18+only). Tickets are £22 and can be bought from the venue’s website.

🎸 Blackmore’s Blood represents an authentic tribute to the genius, flamboyance and flair of Ritchie Blackmore from the rock years of Deep Purple and Rainbow. Caerphilly Workmen’s Hall. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets are £22 and available online.

Monday February 24

🎭 Much-loved children’s book ‘Tidy‘ is set to come to life as English and Welsh language performances are coming to Blackwood Miners’ Institute.

Theatr Iolo is preparing to take Emily Gravett’s illustrated children’s book, Tidy, or Taclus when performed in Welsh, across Wales.

It will be in Blackwood on Monday February 24 and Tuesday February 25. For tickets, costing £10, and performance times visit the BMI website. There is a two-for-£10 offer on if you also book The Lost Forest.

Tuesday February 25

📽️ Newbridge Memo is hosting its children’s cinema club between 11am and 1pm. Free event, but donations welcome.

🎤 Open mic night at Crumlin’s Patriot. Just turn up and play. 7pm start.

Wednesday February 26

🌲 Join Indigo Moon Theatre as they present The Lost Forest, a mesmerising performance of puppetry and digital projection for young children and families. Discover a tale of climate change and deforestation as small creatures flee the destruction of their natural habitats.

Performance at 2pm and tickets costing £10 and be bought from the BMI website. There is a two-for-£10 offer on if you also book Tidy.

Thursday February 27

🚓 The Makings of a Murderer 2 – The Real Manhunter. Senior Investigating officer Colin Sutton, formerly of the Met, caught serial killer Levi Bellfield and ‘Night Stalker’ Delroy Grant. At Blackwood Miners Institute he tells us the stories of how he caught some of the UK’s most evil murderers. Tickets for the 7.30pm show are £29 and can be bought online.

Friday February 28

🎸 Sabbotage Black Sabbath tribute band is at The Patriot, Crumlin. Doors open at 7pm (18+only). Tickets are £10 and can be bought from the venue’s website.

Council events throughout half-term holidays

This February half-term, Caerphilly County Borough Council is offering a range of activities across its area. From swimming lessons to sports camps, outdoor adventures, and creative play, there’s something for everyone.

Half-Term Swimming Programme

Leisure Lifestyle is running a variety of swimming sessions across leisure centres, providing opportunities for children to enjoy the water, stay active, and develop their confidence in the pool.

Intensive Swimming Crash Courses
Intensive swimming crash courses are available at Caerphilly, Heolddu, and Newbridge Leisure Centres, offering a structured programme to help children build water confidence and improve their swimming skills.

Cost: £22 per week

Pre-booking is essential as spaces are limited.

Football Fun Day – Centre of Sporting Excellence:

A fun-filled day of football awaits at the Centre of Sporting Excellence, Ystrad Mynach. Open to boys and girls aged 7-12, this session focuses on skill development, teamwork and match play.
