Gerwyn Price remains in the Premier League play-off places despite a disappointing defeat to Rob Cross on Thursday March 27.

Price, from Markham, fell 6-2 to Cross in the opening quarter-final round on Night 8 in Newcastle.

It was a rematch of last week’s quarter-final matchup in Cardiff, in which Price fell agonisingly short when Cross scored a 170 to seal the deciding leg.

Price, who has two night wins under his belt this campaign following wins in Dublin and Nottingham, remains in fourth place on 12 points, ahead of Cross, who sits in fifth on the same number of points.

Following his exit in Newcastle, Price said on Instagram: “Gutted [with] the way I played tonight. Wasn’t great prep for the game really, I couldn’t practice as much as I’d like to tonight and it showed… hopefully better and ready for the pro tours Monday and Tuesday.”

Night 8 was eventually won by Luke Littler, who extends his lead at the top of the standings after cruising past second-placed Luke Humphries 6-1 in the final.

Premier League Darts heads to the Germany next week, when Berlin hosts Night 9 on Thursday April 3. There, Price will play Michael van Gerwen in his opening match.
