Gerwyn Price held firm to clinch his third PDC ranking title of the year on Wednesday night, beating Josh Rock to win Players Championship 12.

Price, from Markham, won the final in the deciding leg, after Rock recovered from 4-0 and 7-4 down to take the tie all the way in Leicester on April 9.

However, the Iceman maintained his composure to prevail with a 14-dart hold of throw – taking home the £15,000 top prize.

The win comes amidst a busy period for Price. Last Thursday, he reached the final of Premier League Night 9 in Berlin, before staying in Germany for the International Darts Open over the weekend, where he fell in the third round.

It was followed by Players Championship 11 on Tuesday night, where Price exited in the first round following a 6-4 defeat to fellow-Welshman Rob Owen.

But Price was back on top on Wednesday – setting himself up nicely ahead of Premier League Night 10 in Manchester on Thursday April 10 as the schedule comes thick and fast.

“Josh played fantastic darts to come back, but luckily I got a big lead otherwise he would have blown me away,” said Price following his Players Championship 12 victory.

“I didn’t perform that well on the outside boards today, but I played really well on the streaming boards.

I felt a little bit more comfortable and just seemed to zone in, and this will give me a boost going into the Premier League.

“It doesn’t matter how well you’re playing, when you’re winning tournaments, it gives you great confidence going forward.”

En route to the final, Price saw off Darius Labanauskas, Adam Lipscombe, Matthew Dennant, and Mario Vandenbogaerde, before strong displays against Jonny Clayton in the quarter-finals and Ian White in the semis.

He will face table-topper Luke Littler in the Premier League tonight, with the winner of that clash taking on either Stephen Bunting or Luke Humphries in the semi-finals.
