Gerwyn Price celebrating during his quarter-final clash with Luke Littler
Can Gerwyn Price get his third Premier League win of the season in Liverpool?

Premier League Darts is back for Night 12 on Thursday April 24 – with Gerwyn Price looking to boost his play-off hopes.

Price, from Markham, plays last week’s winner Chris Dobey in his opening match in Liverpool, with a a semi-final against Rob Cross or local hero Stephen Bunting awaiting the winner.

Price enters the event fourth in the standings – which is within the play-off places – but is level on points with fifth-place Michael van Gerwen, leaving all still to play for.

How do the play-offs work?

Ranking points are awarded per night – with five to the winner, three to the runner-up and two to the semi-finalists – to form the league table from which the top four players will progress to the play-offs.

The play-offs will be played at The O2 in London on Thursday May 29, with two semi-finals and a final – with the winner crowned Premier League Darts champion.

Price, who earned night wins in both Dublin and Nottingham, suffered a quarter-final exit last week in Rotterdam, following a 6-3 defeat to Nathan Aspinall.

Renewed Price claims his second Premier League night victory of the year

It was followed by a third round exit at the German Darts Grand Prix on the weekend, where he beat Raymond van Barneveld before suffering a 6-4 defeat to Josh Rock.

Tonight’s opponent Dobey, who is currently sixth in the Premier League standings, harbours place-off aspirations of his own following his victory in Rotterdam. He said: “I’m a fighter. I’ve worked hard to get myself back amongst the elite, and I’m here to win.

“I firmly believe I can beat anybody, and if I can get another nightly win, I will put myself right back in the mix.”

Dobey added: “I showed what I’m capable of in Rotterdam, and I think with the way I performed there, I’ve got a good chance of making the top four.”
