The book launch will take place from the old site in Aberbargoed on Saturday morning

A book celebrating the history of Stuart Crystal Pengam Glassworks is set to launch this weekend, with former employees encouraged to come along and grab a free copy.

First opened in 1966, Pengam Glassworks had more 140 employees at its peak before eventually closing down in May 1997.

After discovering there were no records of the factory in Aberbargoed, a group of former staff members tried to piece together information and photographs for a book.

Now, after countless hours of research, the group are ready to launch their book from the site of the old glassworks, now Terry’s Patisserie, on Saturday May 24 at 10.30am.

Copies will be free for former staff and family members, while copies can be bought for £5, with the money given to the Stourbridge Glass Museum.

Colleagues who can’t make it on the day can collect their copy at a later date by visiting the Stuart Crystal Pengam Glassworks works Facebook page and leaving a message.
