Maesycwmmer Primary School has been praised by education watchdog Estyn following an inspection.

It has been described as a “highly inclusive, happy, safe and successful school”, and received praise for its leadership, pupil’s behaviour, outdoor learning and more.

Following the inspection, which was carried out back in February, the school also received plaudits for its “strong” teaching, focus on wellbeing, and relationships with parents and carers.

Estyn highlighted only one area to improve, which was to “provide an appropriate level of challenge to all pupils”.

Headteacher James Harris said: “We are thrilled with Estyn’s recognition of our school’s ethos and achievements. This success reflects the collective efforts of our staff, pupils, parents, and governors.

“We will continue to build on this strong foundation to provide the best possible education for our children.”

Cllr Carol Andrews, council cabinet member for education, described Estyn’s report as a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire Maesycwmmer Primary School community”

Cllr Andrews added: “Their commitment to providing a nurturing and inspiring environment for all pupils is truly commendable.”
