Up to 23 affordable homes could be built on the site of Risca Youth and Community Centre, new plans show.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has proposed demolishing the centre to make way for a redevelopment project comprising one-bedroom flats, “low-cost home ownership” apartments, later living properties and an accessible house.

The homes, if approved, will be built on the site of the existing youth centre and surrounding areas of grass and asphalt.

The council previously commissioned a pre-application consultation looking at either retaining or removing the youth centre as part of the plans, but now appears to be pushing ahead with the latter option.

The site is described as “vacant” and “brownfield” in nature.

The application is currently out for consultation, and can be viewed on the Caerphilly County Borough Council website under reference 25/0340/OUT.
