Blackwood Beach Party

Blackwood Beach Party drew more than 5,500 visitors to the town centre when it was held on Saturday June 28.

With the sun shining, the free-to-enter event saw the high street turn into a summer paradise, with sand, deckchairs, funfair rides, live music and more.

It was the second busiest day of the year in the town in terms of footfall, following on from Blackwood Spring Fair earlier this year – and drew 2,000 more visitors than the previous weekend.

The event was funded by Blackwood Town Council and organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Beach party still a success despite bad weather

John Hold, clerk of Blackwood Town Council, said: “It was yet another very successful free event for the Town, with thousands on the high street enjoying the various stalls, amusements, activities and entertainment on offer.

“All this, with some reasonable weather for a change, ensured a fun packed day for the local community and hopefully a boost for local businesses on the high street.

“Thanks to all who attended, and we look forward to seeing you and others at our Winter Fair on Saturday November 22.”
