More than 400 counterfeit toys have been seized by the council’s Trading Standards team.
As part of an operation focusing on fake Labubu dolls – collectable Chinese monsters made popular on social media – council officers visited more than 100 premises across Caerphilly County Borough.
The council said the counterfeit products were “voluntarily surrendered and removed from sale” following the visits.
It also said many of those items were found to contain small parts posing a choking hazard – while some contained unsafe electrical parts.
Cllr Philippa Leonard, cabinet member for public protection, said: “This proactive work by our Trading Standards team has helped protect children and families from potentially dangerous counterfeit products.
“Fake toys often bypass essential safety checks and can contain harmful materials or pose serious risks. I’d like to thank the officers involved in this operation for their dedication to keeping our communities safe.”
