Two Caerphilly women share their Slimming World transformations

Losing weight isn’t just about the numbers on the scales – it’s about gaining freedom, confidence and a fresh lease of life. Two Caerphilly women, Carol and Tasha, know this first-hand after transforming their health and happiness with Slimming World.

“At 76, I Chose Change – and It Changed My Life!”

From mobility scooter to heels – Carol, 76, lost 4st 2½lbs (27kg) with Slimming World and has gone from a size 26 to a size 14

Carol Whitaker, 76, from the Caerphilly Leisure Centre group, has shed an incredible 4st 2½lbs (27kg). At her heaviest, Carol weighed 16st 10lbs (106kg). She now weighs 12st 7½lbs (79kg).

Her journey began after a health scare and years of mobility problems left her dependent on sticks and even a scooter. She also lives with asthma and feared losing her independence – and the ability to care for her husband.

When her daughter joined Slimming World, Carol decided to give it a go too. Together, they discovered a plan that wasn’t about restriction, but about enjoying real food. Carol loves hearty favourites such as Sunday roasts, baked oats, spicy noodles and even her homemade lamb kleftiko.

“Group is what keeps me going,” she says. “It’s not just the scales, it’s the support, recipes, and laughter. I’ve gone from a size 26 to a 14 – and I no longer hide behind baggy clothes. The little things, like rushing up stairs or putting on socks without help, mean the world.”

Her proudest moment? Racing up the travelator at Sainsbury’s – in heels – something she never imagined possible before Slimming World.

• Want to feel like Carol? Come along to the Caerphilly Leisure Centre Slimming World group – relaunching Monday September 4 at 9am. Call Pippa on 07949 430212 to find out more or just pop in.

“I Feel Like Myself Again!”

Tasha, 52, shed 3st 10½lbs (24kg) and says Slimming World has given her back her energy, confidence

For 52-year-old Natasha (Tasha) Organ from Bedwas, her 3st 10½lbs (24kg) weight loss has been just as life-changing. At her heaviest, Tasha weighed 14st 8lbs (93kg). She now weighs 10st 11½lbs (69kg).

“I didn’t feel like myself anymore,” she recalls. “I had a family wedding abroad coming up and just wanted to feel confident, but I honestly didn’t know where to start. I’m a fussy eater and thought losing weight would be miserable.”

With encouragement from Consultant Francine Gauci and fellow members, Tasha discovered Slimming World’s Food Optimising plan – which allowed her to enjoy pasta, jacket potatoes and stir-fries while making a few smart swaps.

“I’ve never eaten so well,” she says. “I can enjoy meals with my family, feel full and still reach my goals. It’s given me confidence, energy and my smile back.”

Today, she loves shopping again – even sharing clothes with her teenage daughter – and is embracing life with new confidence.
