Funding is available for sports clubs and organisations

Community sports clubs and groups can claim up to £50,000 through a new Sport Wales fund.

The Be Active Wales Fund, which is backed by the National Lottery, is currently open for applications.

Its aim is to strengthen grassroots sport and ensure more people in Wales can get involved in physical activity.

Clubs can claim between £300 and £50,000, which can be used to buy equipment, improve facilities, train coaches and volunteers, or provide more opportunities for people to play sport.

Expressions of interest are required by 9am on Friday September 12, with full applications needing to be submitted by 4pm on Wednesday September 17.

A further application window will open in November for those unable to apply during this round.

Cllr Chris Morgan, Caerphilly Council’s cabinet member for Leisure, said: “This fund is a fantastic opportunity for local clubs to access support and help more people take part in sport. I encourage all eligible clubs to apply.”

The expression of interest form can be found online.

Sport Wales’ investment team can be contacted by emailing BeActive@Sport.Wales, or by calling 0300 3003102.
