A 21-year-old man, believed to be from Fochriw, has been charged after a video was uploaded to YouTube threatening people at Merthyr Tydfil College.

In the video, which has now been taken offline but is circulating widely on social media, a man in a Merthyr College branded facemask can be seen speaking directly to the camera.

In a statement, Gwent Police said a 21-year-old man was arrested by colleagues in South Wales Police on Sunday August 31.

The man has now been charged with sending communication threatening death or serious harm under section 181 of the Online Safety Act 2023.

He is due to appear in Newport Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 2 September).
