Cardiff City’s Dylan Lawlor makes his first senior start for Wales this afternoon, as Craig Bellamy’s men take on Kazakhstan in a World Cup qualifying match.

The 19-year-old defender, from Caerphilly, has enjoyed a strong start to the season with the Bluebirds, where he has recently broken into the first team.

The game kicks off in Astana at 3pm on Thursday September 4. It will be followed by a friendly against Canada in Swansea on Tuesday September 9.

However, captain Aaron Ramsey, who is also from Caerphilly, has been left out of Bellamy’s squad for the two matches.

Ramsey left Cardiff City in the summer to join Mexican top flight side Pumas UNAM, where he scored the winning goal on his debut – helping his new side to a 1-0 victory over Atlas over the weekend.

Speaking to BBC Sport after the squad announcement, Bellamy explained how Ramsey’s exclusion was a mutual decision between the two, made in large part due to his lack of game time over recent months.
