A new business could open in Newport’s Upper Dock Street, according to plans submitted to the city council.

The premises at Unit 6 is currently a retail space, but applicant Joanna Iwanowicz, of Cakes and Cream, is seeking a change of use that would allow the site to also sell food and drink.

Plans show the new layout of the premises, if approved, would include a seating area, display counter, and rear utility and staff room.

The unit is one of several below Chartist Tower, and leads from Friars Walk down to Corn Street and the city’s bus stations.

The application is currently under consideration, and can be viewed on the Newport City Council website under reference 25/0906.
