Bargoed RFC is hosting a charity day

Bargoed Rugby Club is hosting its President’s Charity Day this month to support the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust – which supports players who have been severely injured on the field of play, and their families.

The event, on Saturday January 17, will coincide with Bargoed RFC’s WRU Premiership match against “long-standing rivals” Beddau.

Rob Butcher, president of Bargoed RFC, said the event will be “a big thing for the club and our community”.

The day will bring together past players and former teammates, as well as supporters, WRU representatives, and local dignitaries. Presidents from other rugby clubs across the south Wales valleys will also be in attendance.

Tickets cost £15 and include entry to the game, as well as the pre-match buffet and function with yet-to-be-revealed guest speakers.

There will also be a raffle on the day – with prizes including hospitality packages at Cardiff Rugby and Dragons RFC, international match tickets, televisions and more.

Mr Butcher thanked sponsors Carter and Lauren Construction for their support, as well as the numerous other business and individuals who have made donations.

Any gifts to the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust would be greatly appreciated by the club.
