Smart Smiles has opened new premises in Caerphilly town

Dentistry in Wales is entering a significant period of transition with the introduction of a new dental contract from April 1. While these changes are intended to shape the future of dentistry, they have understandably created uncertainty for both patients and practices.

At this time of transition, Smart Smiles wants to reassure patients that, despite the changes, we remain firmly committed to providing high-quality, patient-centred dental care across Wales.

Smart Smiles is an independent group of six dental practices, proudly serving communities across the South Wales Valleys. Most recently, the group has expanded with the opening of a new, state-of-the-art dental practice in Caerphilly. Smart Smiles Dental and Implant Centre, located at Beddau Way, Caerphilly CF83 2AX, represents a major investment in modern facilities, advanced technology, and patient comfort. The new practice is now welcoming new patients and offers access to both NHS and private dental care in a modern, welcoming environment.

Smart Smiles has always prided itself on being a family-focused dental group. We believe in caring for patients at every stage of life, from young children attending their first dental visit to adults and older patients requiring ongoing care and support. Family dentistry sits at the heart of our philosophy, and we strive to create a calm, friendly, and supportive environment where patients feel listened to, valued, and genuinely cared for.

Smart Smiles has expanded with the opening of a new, state-of-the-art dental practice in Caerphilly

Practice owner Dr Len Smart has a long and deeply rooted connection to the Caerphilly area. He began his dental career in 1988 in Trethomas, Caerphilly, before later moving to Newbridge in 2011. With the opening of the new Caerphilly practice, Len has now returned to where his professional journey first began.

Reflecting on this milestone, Dr Smart said: “I feel I have come full circle. Returning to Caerphilly feels like coming home. I have many friends around Caerphilly, and this community played a huge part in shaping my career. I cared for people across the area for over 20 years, and it means a great deal to me. I’m proud to invest back into this community and to build a practice that patients can rely on now and for many years to come.”

The new Dental and Implant Centre is equipped with the finest, most up-to-date dental equipment, allowing clinicians to deliver high standards of care safely, efficiently, and comfortably. In addition to general and preventative dentistry, Smart Smiles offers a comprehensive range of treatments under one roof, including cosmetic dentistry, orthodontic treatment, composite bonding, dental implants, and restorative care. This ensures patients have access to both routine and advanced treatments close to home.

As dentistry in Wales adapts to contractual and systemic change, Smart Smiles remains focused on continuity, independence, and patient-centred care. We love what we do, and we genuinely care for the patients we serve. Our commitment is not short-term or uncertain; it is built on decades of experience, strong community roots, and a clear vision for the future. Our priority is, and always will be, to provide accessible, ethical, and high-quality dentistry, supporting our patients and communities now and into the future.
