The outgoing captain of Caerphilly Golf Club has presented a cheque for £3,280 to the Alzheimer’s Society after a year of fundraising.
The money was raised as part of outgoing captain Andy Phillips’ charity appeal.
The charity was chosen after Ian’s late mother, Joan Phillips – herself a former captain of the club – lived with the condition before she passed away. Andy’s father also previously served as club captain.
Charlie Sloper, regional fundraiser with the Alzheimer’s Society, thanked Andy and the club for their fundraising efforts, describing them as “marvellous”.
He said the amount would be enough to help cover the cost of around 500 calls to the charity’s dementia support line.
