Spring is in full swing in Caerphilly following the recent Six Nations match between Wales and Italy, played on March 14. Welsh and foreign fans discussed the games in pubs, ahead of events like the Bargoed Spring Fair. For those who enjoy betting on sports, given the many upcoming matches in rugby and other disciplines, promotions like BetMGM free bets can come in handy, because they let the bettor try his or her luck without spending money from his or her wallet.
The rugby game was a huge success and Welsh fans were happy to see their players defeat a team like Italy, that played a good tournament, defeating even England, despite the technical limits of the Azzurri. However, now that the tournament is finished, there are a lot of other beautiful events to look forward to in the spring.
A cosy atmosphere
Caerphilly is a cosy town, where Welsh spirit and hospitality can be found everywhere. The historic Castle, which happens to be the oldest in Wales, is surrounded by the suggestive town, the scenic Caerphilly Mountain and the lovely Meadows Farm Village. Nature blooms here, in the several green spaces that can be visited and surrounding the Rhymney Valley Ridgeway. This portion of Wales is colourful all year round and it is possible to enjoy Welsh hospitality and warmth.
There is a river that runs right through the borough, and the landscape is characterised by green space with all sorts of outdoorsy treats and memorable views. The Borough is a long, narrow, tear-drop-shaped county and it runs from the edge of the Brecon Beacons in the north, to the suburbs of Cardiff in the south. Caerphilly town is at the southwestern edge, with other towns including Ystrad Mynach, Blackwood, New Tredegar and Bedwas, scattered around the Rhymney river.
Sports in Caerphilly
Rugby is quite loved around here. Caerphilly RFC, the local team, can count on passionate supporters and football is also a sport that involves a lot of people, even women. Recently, the borough hosted a successful women’s tournament. More than 260 girls took part in it. The clash against Italy at Principality Stadium showed how much Welsh people love the sport and was a good chance to celebrate the spirit of the Six Nations.
What to do in spring around here
Spring in Caerphilly is pretty nice and there are some cool events to take part in. The Bargoed Spring Fair opens up spring in Caerphilly, on the first weekend of the new season. It is a very family-friendly event. The visitors can enjoy the atmosphere of a nice fair while seeing the sights. The following weekend it’s time for the Ystrad Mynach Festival: a nice mix of music, food and fun that is meant for young people but also people who have been young for a longer time.
These events are the right way to open up spring and enjoy nature. For a moving glimpse of mining life and a jump in the rich history of a job that defined this area, it is possible to visit the Aber Valley Heritage Museum in the former mining town of Senghenydd. The museum and the nearby Welsh National and Universal Memorial Garden are run by a local group of volunteers who decided to honour the region’s mining history and tell the stories of two terrible mine explosions that killed hundreds of men and boys, plus dozens of pit ponies too, in the Universal Colliery.
