Treowen have stars in their eyes ahead of the new season
Treowen Stars have reached the Welsh Blood Service Cup final

Treowen Stars have reached the final of the Welsh Blood Service Cup after defeating Cymru North outfit Buckley Town on penalties.

A last‑minute equaliser from Lewis Green sent the tie to a shootout, where Treowen were flawless from the spot. Buckley missed twice, losing 4–2 on penalties, sending the Stars into the final.

Treowen’s route to the final has been far from easy, with several challenging ties along the way.

Their campaign began with an away trip to Caerau Ely back in August, where they stormed into a three‑goal lead before eventually holding on for a 3–2 win in Cardiff.

Nearly five months later, the Stars travelled to Ammanford for the next round of the competition, in mid‑January.

A second‑half equaliser from striker Corey Jenkins forced a penalty shootout in Carmarthenshire, where Treowen proved clinical from 12 yards. They progressed after Morgan Clarke missed Ammanford’s fourth penalty and defensive stalwart Craig McDonnell converted the decisive kick.

Postponements meant Treowen went almost a month without any game before facing Llantwit Major in the quarter‑finals at the Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach.

Experienced midfielder Thomas Meecham scored twice in the opening five minutes, including a stunning free‑kick, to secure a 2–1 victory and set up the trip to Flintshire to face Buckley Town.

After overcoming the Bucks, Treowen will now face already‑promoted Cymru North side Airbus UK Broughton in the final, scheduled for late April or early May at a neutral venue.

This marks Treowen Stars’ first ever season competing in the Welsh Blood Service Cup, and they will be hoping to claim silverware in back‑to‑back campaigns following last season’s Ardal South East title triumph.
