Do you live or work in Abertridwr, Cilfynydd, Gelligaer, Llanbradach, Nelson, Ystrad Mynach or Senghenydd?

Do you want a real say in shaping your local area?

Now you can.

Twyn Hywel Energy Park, developed by Bute Energy, will generate a Community Benefit Fund worth more than £704,000 every year – and local people will help decide how it’s spent.

People living in and around the Energy Park are now invited to apply for a place on a Grants Panel, guiding investment that supports the community today and for years to come.

What is the Community Benefit Fund?

The fund is a long‑term commitment linked directly to Twyn Hywel Energy Park an onshore wind site near you.
Its purpose is simple: to reinvest in the local area and support what matters most to the people who live there.

Funding can support projects such as:

  • Improving and protecting community spaces
  • Supporting local groups and volunteers
  • Environmental and cultural initiatives
  • Health, wellbeing and recreation
  • Education, skills and employability
  • Community owned energy

What does the Grants Panel do?

Panel membership is voluntary, and your time will be needed for up to one day per month.

As a panel member, you will:

  • Help decide which projects receive funding
  • Shape how money is invested over the long term
  • Ensure funding delivers meaningful local benefits
  • Represent the needs and ambitions of your community

Why get involved?

“These opportunities have the potential to strengthen our entire community, bringing people together, creating new opportunities, and supporting positive outcomes for individuals and families across the area.”
Matt Bateman, Chairperson, Senghenydd RFC
