Caerphilly County Borough Council has been awarded £30,000 from the Welsh Government for local improvement works.

Run down areas will benefit from the cash under the ‘Tidy Towns – Tidy Places’ initiative.

These include:

  • A new allotment site at Tunnel Row, Newbridge.
  • Ground clearance and the creation of a footway connecting West End to the High Street, Blackwood.
  • Ground improvements on land to the side of Leigh Club, Senghenydd.
  • Attractive natural planting on overgrown land at the rear of Coronation Terrace, Pontymister.
  • New allotment space off Mining School Hill, Crumlin.

Cllr Lyn Ackerman, cabinet member for public services and housing said: “This funding will help make a real difference to the environment in a number of communities across our county borough.”

‘Tidy Towns Tidy Places’ is a Welsh Government initiative, which aims to improve the quality of the local environment through community action.
