Gwent Police has issued a warning to drivers in Bargoed to park legally after a recent crackdown.

Over the last two months officers have handed out 45 fixed penalties of £30 fines and ten endorsable tickets with three points on a licence.

Police have said they have noticed an increase in the following parking offences in Bargoed town:

  • Parking in loading bays throughout Bargoed town in the morning, in particular outside Spar (£30 fine)
  • Parking on zebra crossings, including the zig zags outside Barclays bank and Bargoed Police Station (£60 fine and 3 points on your driving license)
  • Parking in and around the road works (£30 fine)
  • Parking on double yellow lines on the left hand side as you enter Bargoed – this is causing an obstruction to passing vehicles (£30 fine)
  • Parking on pavements (£30 fine)

Huw Jones, Inspector for the Bargoed and Rhymney Neighbourhood Team, said: “It has become apparent in recent months that motorists in the Bargoed area have started to ignore existing parking restrictions. We want to remind drivers that all restrictions are still firmly in place and anyone found disregarding the restrictions will face a fine and possibly points on their licence.”
