Police appeal after Newbridge assault

A 56-year-old man had to be taken to hospital with multiple face fractures after he was attacked by a youth.

Gwent Police is appealing for information to the assault that happened 7pm on Saturday February 13 in Newbridge.

The man had gone into the Londis Store in Treowen where a young boy was being abusive to staff.

He challenged the boy about his behaviour and when he left the store was assaulted by him.

The victim was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital where he remains after sustaining multiple fractures to the face.

The offender is described as white, between 5ft 5in and 5ft 7in tall, of a stocky build and aged between 15 and 17-years-old.
He had medium length, fair, wavy hair which was short on the side.

Any witnesses or anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
