Caerphilly County Borough Council has joined forces with other local authorities across Wales to encourage more people to become foster carers.
Fifteen local authorities have joined the Wales Fostering 10+ Campaign, to help promote the particular need for foster carers for young people aged 10 and above, by offering them support and a safe and happy home.
Cllr Judith Pritchard, cabinet member for social services said: “Fostering is a demanding but worthwhile and fulfilling career. If offers immeasurable value to the lives of young people who need guidance and support as they approach their adult years.
“It is therefore a high priority for Caerphilly County Borough Council and the other local authorities in the partnership to be in a position to recruit carers willing to take on older children. We look for foster carers from a variety of diverse backgrounds and experiences, but who are united in their shared dedication in improving the lives of children and young people in their local area.”
Foster carers are welcome from all backgrounds, irrespective of race, religion, sexuality, age or marital status.
Approved foster carers are provided with financial assistance to help cover the costs of looking after a child. In depth training is also provided, and support is available throughout the process.
