Former Paralympian and one of Britain’s most successful swimmers Chris Holmes will be visiting Newbridge Leisure Centre this Friday.
The nine-times gold medallist is on a UK-wide roadshow tour to promote the 2012 Paralympic Games.
As part of his visit to Newbridge Leisure Centre, Chris will present Caerphilly County Borough Council with an ‘Inspire Mark’ for its school swimming programme.
The programme allows schools the opportunity to receive three-week intensive blocks of tuition for pupils in school years four to six. The pupils have an intense course of 15×45 minute lessons across the three week period.
Chris Holmes will be at Newbridge Leisure Centre at 3.30pm on Friday September 23.
Tickets for the London 2012 Paralympic Games are on sale until 6pm on Monday September 26 and are available from www.tickets.london2012.com
It's a shame he won't be visiting Caerphilly Leisure centre, where David Roberts CBE, paralympian swimmer trains daily in his bid to beat Dame Tanny Grey Thompsons record gold medal haul at the 2012 games. David is one of the most successful British Paralympians, and he is training in CCBC – you would think that the British Olympic / Paralympic organisers would have made even more of a publicity opportunity and joined the two paralympians.
Don't get me wrong, it is great that the Paralympics / Olympics are coming to CCBC at all, it is just a shame that both CCBC and the Olympics/ Paralympics are missing out on this opportunity – CCBC should be jumping at this.
