Caerphilly County Borough Council has warned people that anyone caught smoking at Blackwood bus station could be fined.
The warning comes after a number of complaints to the council’s Trading Standards team that people have been ignoring the smoking ban.
Cllr Rob Gough, cabinet member for public protection said: “Anyone caught flouting the law by smoking in enclosed public spaces where they shouldn’t be, is liable for a fined penalty notice of £50, with prosecution a very real possibility if the fine isn’t paid.
“The smoking legislation was introduced for a reason, and anyone who decides to disregard this legislation must suffer the consequences.”
Enforcement Officers will be monitoring the area and will issue on-the-spot fines.
Hello
Smoking at Blackwood bus station. Perhaps the environmental officers should check Caerphilly Bis station where the practice is rife. Sadly, bus drivers are as bad as the public.
