Risca youngsters plant daffodils

The pupils at Ty Isaf Infants School in Risca have been busy planting daffodils

Children from a Risca school have been planting daffodil bulbs on a patch of land near their school grounds.

The pupils at Ty Isaf Infants School have been working alongside officers from Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Tidy Towns team to brighten up their local environment by planting native Welsh daffodils.

Cllr Lyn Ackerman, cabinet member for public services said: “What a wonderful example for older generations to follow – this group of pupils aged five and six showed great enthusiasm and pride for this patch outside their school grounds.”

The area at the rear of Coronation Street in Risca has received funding from the Welsh Government’s Tidy Towns initiative to improve the quality and appearance of the ground.

The initiative aims to improve the quality of the local environment through community action, contributing towards a clean, safe and tidy Wales.
