A police officer has been praised for his bravery after he successfully tackled and arrested an armed man.
PC Stuart Lewis, who is part of the local Neighbourhood Policing Team, responded to reports of a man in possession of a weapon outside a convenience shop in Bedwas on Saturday October 16 last year.
He attended and quickly detained the man without incident, ensuring a swift and safe outcome. He was arrested and charged with possession of an offensive weapon.
PC Lewis has received his Chief Constable Commendation Award at a ceremony at Maes Manor in Blackwood earlier this week.
The armed man was later found guilty of possession of an offensive weapon and sentenced to nine months in prison.
