Ten-year-old Jack Beytell of St Gwladys Primary School, in Bargoed, has won a Gwent Police poser competition telling parents to “Park it Right”.

Bargoed’s Neighbourhood Policing Team has been using the competition this year to help improve parking issues outside schools in the Bargoed area.

Jack’s poster will be put up around Bargoed targeting parents who park illegally outside schools for drop-offs and pick-ups.

The second and third place runners-up, Caitlin Pine and Abbie Morgan, both age ten, received gift vouchers, a medal and certificate.

All the children who took part in the competition received a goodie bag packed full of gifts kindly supplied by: Gwent Police, Principality Building Society Bargoed, Fireside Coffee Lounge Bargoed, Le Fleur Flower Shop Bargoed and Bargoed and District Crime Prevention Panel.

Traffic Warden Katrine Wright said: “The poster competitions have been a great way to interact with the local school children and to educate them about road safety. This is now our fourth competition in the Bargoed area we’ve have seen a marked drop in vehicles parking illegally around schools.”
