Fans of TV’s Merlin will be able to watch an exclusive screening of the latest episode of the BBC Wales show at Caerphilly Castle.

Cadw has teamed up with BBC Wales to offer exclusive advance screenings of the penultimate episode in the current series of Merlin.

The programme, which won’t be aired on BBC One until later in December, will be shown on Sunday December 11 in the Castle’s Great Hall to coincide with the Medieval Fayre over the weekend of Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 December.

In addition to the screenings, original costume from the series will be on show, as well as a stunning photographic display and a green screen installed on the Saturday to enable fans to get a picture of themselves within the magical world of Merlin.

Twenty Golden tickets will be hidden around the Castle on Saturday December 10, each ticket found will allow a family of up to four into one of the showings plus free entry to the castle on the Sunday.

Another 130 tickets per showing will be allocated on a first come first served basis on Sunday December 11, to those visitors who have paid admission to the castle.

The Merlin screenings are the latest addition to the entertainment feast on offer at the 13th Century castle as part of Caerphilly’s Medieval Christmas Fayre.

In addition to the daytime Medieval Fayre Caerphilly Castle will be welcoming Illuminata, one of the most spectacular digital light and sound shows around, over three nights on December 9, 10 and 11.

Superb offering for anyone visiting Caerffili and its famous castle. Thank you Cadw and BBC for an enterprising way of showcasing not only the excellent Merlin production, which my daughter watches each week and on repeat showing, but also the fortress that sleeps at the heart of the town. Hope they get the mist machines to work on the night…
