Abercarn company gains Investors in People Standard Award

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 14:17, Wednesday January 4th, 2012.

Abercarn company Dischromatics has achieved the prestigious Investors in People Standard.

The business award recognises a company’s effort to look after its employees and ensure they are at their best.

Stewart Spencer, chairman of Dischomatics, said: “We are proud to have been awarded the Investors in People Standard. Through the hard work and teamwork of both management and staff this award is the culmination of what has been displayed over many years and can now be tangibly expressed.

“Achieving this award is not only important to express the company’s desire to have an independent assessment of the business in terms of employee best practices, but will most certainly help to obtain and retain business, especially through tendering due to the criteria demanded.”

The company, which specialises in CD and DVD duplication and printing and packaging, will now be reassessed every three years to ensure the Investors in People Standard continues to be met.

Mr Spencer added: “Sometimes it can be easy to become complacent when absorbed in the day to day running of the business and one’s own problems, and without realising it, relationships can break down very quickly.

“The result of such failings over a long period can almost definitely lead to an irrevocable breakdown of communication in the workplace and deterioration of the business itself. The Investors in People award and continuing monitoring and improvement of the procedures adopted will undoubtedly help to ensure the continued success of the organisation.”
