Bus company Stagecoach has announced changes to its services between Newbridge and Blackwood.
From January 23, passengers from Pantside, Newbridge, will be able to travel through to Blackwood without changing buses.
Stagecoach is combining Routes 5 and N1 into a new service operating between Blackwood, Oakdale, Croespenmaen, Crumlin, Newbridge and Pantside.
All buses will show Route number 5 and operate every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday daytimes. In Newbridge, all journeys to Pantside will depart from Newbridge Hotel and opposite The Co-operative not Ebbw View Terrace.
John Gould, managing director of Stagecoach in South Wales, said: “We are always looking at ways to improve bus travel and make it more convenient. This is part of a continuing investment in the area.
“In 2007 we increased the frequency of Route 151 between Newport, Newbridge and Blackwood to every ten minutes with a significant investment in new vehicles. Similarly in June 2010 we invested £750,000 in new buses and increased the frequency of Route 26 Blackwood to Cardiff.”
Also from the same date, Stagecoach in South Wales will provide all journeys on Routes 6 (Blackwood – Wyllie), 8 (Blackwood – Grove Park) and N2 (Crumlin – Llanfach) rather than Phil Anslow Coaches. Route R2 (Risca – Newport) will be provided by NAT Group.
