A brand new outdoor games facility will be officially unveiled in Pontllanfraith on Friday.
The facility, located next to Pontllanfraith Leisure Centre, has the aim of boosting participation in outdoor games across Caerphilly County Borough at a grassroots level.
The official unveiling will take place followed by a Welsh Schools FA U18 International friendly football match against Australia.
Cllr Phil Bevan, cabinet member for education, leisure and lifelong learning said: “This brand new facility will be a wonderful asset to our county borough. We are working closely with local clubs, leagues and the Welsh Football Trust and other key partners to ensure this facility and others like it are used to their maximum potential for the benefit of county borough residents, and also help further increase participation in outdoor games at a grassroots level.
“We are delighted to be hosting the Welsh Schools FA Wales vs Australia Football International Friendly on this brand new pitch on Friday afternoon – I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and show their support to the teams.”
Kick off for the match is at 2pm, and at half-time children from neighbouring primary schools will take part in a series of mini 4×4 football skill sessions, led by Sport Caerphilly and the Welsh Football Trust.
The 3G all weather pitch has been paid for by Sport Wales and FAW Trust grants and Caerphilly County Borough Council.
Local sporting clubs are invited to contact Pontllanfraith Leisure Centre to enquire about availability of the facility for training purposes.
