Llancaiach Fawr

Seventeenth Century court cases will be re-enacted this half-term at Llancaiach Fawr in Nelson next week.

Families can spend the half-term at the Manor House where the court cases will be presided over by local Justice of the Peace and owner of the manor, ‘Colonel Edward Pritchard’.

Visitors will hear some interesting and unexpected cases based on real 17th century trials and even get to vote and a decide the ‘fate’ of defendants.

These take place at 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm and standard entry charges apply. At the same time, in the education block the attraction will be running Spring craft sessions where visitors can have a go at making spring flowers, bunny hats, biscuit butterflies, frog masks and caterpillars.

These activities run between 11am and 4pm and are free with paid entry to the manor or are £4.25 per child (adults free if not using manor).

Visitors will also have the opportunity to throw wet sponges at local fundraiser Joanne James who is raising money for the Alzheimers society and will be placed in the stocks in the courtyard.
