Caerphilly family project gets good practice award

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 17:00, Tuesday February 14th, 2012.

A Caerphilly family project has scooped an award for employing good practice in mental health promotion.

Action for Children’s Caerphilly Family Intervention project has been awarded the Good Practice award from the Public Health Wales Good Practice Scheme, which aims to recognise and support good practice in initiatives in fields including mental health promotion.

The award recognises the project’s early intervention work with families with emerging mental health needs.

Leah Salter, Parent Therapist at the project, was presented with the award by Huw Lewis AM at the All Wales Mental Health Promotion Network annual conference.

Leah said: “I was really pleased accept this award on behalf of the team at the Caerphilly Family Intervention project. The scheme is a really positive way to promote good practice in mental health in Wales and we were delighted to be recognised for our work and in particular how we evaluate the impact our services have on families and communities. ”

Action for Children runs over 120 services in Wales, supporting over 15,000 children, young people and their families in local communities.
