64-year-old man robbed at home in Tan Y Bryn, Rhymney

Gwent Police is appealing for information after a 64-year-old man was robbed at his home in Tan y Bryn, Rhymney.

Two men called at the victim’s house at about 4.45pm on on Monday February 13. Police said the two gained entry, assaulted the man and stole two small safes containing personal belongings and items of jewellery.

The 64-year-old man suffered injuries to his head and hand and was taken to the Prince Charles Hospital where he currently remains.

The two robbers are described as being in their 20s, one was wearing a bright yellow jacket and the other was wearing a grey coloured hoody. They made off in the direction Tan Y Bryn’s junction with Hill Street.

The two safes stolen are described as being approximately 12in by 8in by 8in, grey in colour, with an electronic keypad, dial and battery chamber on the front.

Police are asking people to come forward if they find the safes, which may have been discarded, or if they witnessed any suspicious activity in the area at the time.
