The tour will take place between the September 11 and 18. Caerphilly will form part of stage four being held on September 14 which will see the cyclists race down the length of Wales from Welshpool to Caerphilly.

The stage will feature the Brecon Beacons and Caerphilly Mountain.

Caerphilly Council’s chief executive Anthony O’Sullivan said: “We are delighted with the news that this prestigious sporting event is coming to the Caerphilly county borough.

“We hope the route will be lined with local people who can get the chance to cheer on some of the world’s top athletes as they travel through the area. Caerphilly town, with its magnificent medieval castle, will provide a fitting finale for the stage.”
