A 28% fall in antisocial behaviour in the Rhymney area has been attributed by Gwent Police to high visibility patrols and targeted work.
Since January 2012 officers have been working with Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Community Safety Wardens as well as British Transport Police and Gwent Police Special Constabulary to tackle hot spot areas.
In total, 104 youths have been stopped between Rhymney Memorial Park and Rhymney High Street, and 50 Antisocial Behaviour referrals have been issued for disorder in this area. More than 100 items of alcohol have also been seized from youths drinking under age.
Inspector Karen Evans, from Rhymney Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are continuing to target antisocial behaviour in the Rhymney area in order to further improve the quality of life for local residents. We will continue our proactive patrols, particularly concentrating on areas that residents have highlighted are of most concern to them.

Perhaps it is all the shotguns which, from recent reports on these pages, appears to be readily available for use in Rhymney, and, to which uses, Shooting poor puppies heads off, entering old peoples homes with shotguns and threatening to kill them, etc etc, appear to be the order of the day in Gwent and particularly Rhymney, and, I for one have yet to see any reports of any arrests in this respect.
Does anyone know any different????
