Arriva Trains Wales

Arriva Trains Wales has announced details of its plans to transport the thousands of fans expected in Cardiff for Wales’ Six Nations Grand Slam showdown with France on Saturday.

Additional train services, increased seating capacity, crowd management systems and station closures will all be in place on match day.

These arrangements will include:

Additional Train Services
On Saturday there will be additional services running on the Marches route, from North Wales and on Gloucester routes during both morning and evening services. For information on these additional services please go to www.arrivatrainswales.co.uk or visit your local staffed station during opening hours.

Additional seating capacity
Trains on the Valleys network, West Wales and Ebbw Vale routes will feature additional carriages and passenger seating .

Station arrangements
Cardiff Queen Street Station will be closed at 16.00 (it can still be used as an interchange for any customers arriving from Cardiff Bay but they will not be able to exit at Queen Street) and so any customers after this time are advised to use Cardiff Central station.

Following the game, customers are urged to return to Cardiff Central station ASAP as train services will operate on a first come, first served basis.

The usual crowd management queuing system will be in place and customers are reminded to be mindful of this when planning their return journey as they could be queuing for up to an hour or more. Warm and waterproof clothing is advised.

British Transport Police will be present in station areas.
