Pupils from Blackwood Comprehensive School have been showing off their entrepreneurial skills, by selling a mobile phone accessory they invented.
Year 10 students Toni Williams, Zoe Parnell and Lowri Jones-Twinberrow have created a mobile charging accessory called ‘Hugga Plug’ which fits around the plug of a phone charger while the wire for the charger can be wrapped around. The mobile phone is then rested on the shelf so the phone can be charged with no trailing wires.
The team have been mentored by Mostyn Davies from the council’s Trading Standards Department and have come up with a catchy slogan for the ground-breaking gadget: “Safe and sound, off the ground!”
The girls managed to sell 20 Hugga Plugs – at £2.99 each – during a recent sales pitch at the council’s Penallta House headquarters and have sold 50 more at their school.
