A Caerphilly-based internet venture which helps people donate to charity has won a prestigious award.

Timto, which is based at the Welsh Innovation Centre for Enterprise on Caerphilly Business Park, won the ‘Most Promising Digital Tool’ award at the inaugural Blackbaud Digital Fundraising Awards.

Held in association with UK Fundraising, the awards were launched to highlight innovative and effective use of digital in fundraising.

UK Fundraising editor and chair of the judging panel Howard Lake said: “The panel was hugely impressed with all of the entries but Timto was a worthy winner on the night.

“This category was all about potential and Timto’s giving platform really resonated with fundraisers and the public who saw its promise as a digital fundraising tool.”

Timto allows users to create a gift list for friends and family, like Amazon, that also includes donations to charities.

Nathan Cornish, co-founder of Timto, said: “We are thrilled with this award and anticipate exciting times are ahead.

“Timto is being realised through a number of high profile charity partnerships which will deliver the service to the mass market in the near future.”

Winners in nine different categories were announced after a public vote saw almost 8,000 votes cast.
