In his regular column for Caerphilly Observer, Caerphilly Business Forum’s chair Tony Sheehan congratulates those shortlisted for the Caerphilly Business Forum Awards 2012.
So, the good news this week is that the number of unemployed people in Wales has decreased. Obviously, there is still a great deal of room for improvement but this is definitely a step in the right direction.
What is less heartening is the fact that youth joblessness is at a 15 year high with 13,600 18 to 24-year-olds without employment or a place in college.
It is with this in mind that I make special mention of Owain Jones of Peter’s Foods, Karina Hicks of Educ8 and our very own Laura Price of Joyner P.A. Cymru who have this week been shortlisted in the Young Achiever of the Year category of the Caerphilly Business Forum Awards.
This category was open to owners, directors, managers and employees of private businesses in the County Borough and who are 30 or younger. As always, the standard of the entries was exceptional and really demonstrated that youth needn’t be a barrier to success.
I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the Caerphilly businesses who have been shortlisted for this year’s Caerphilly Business Awards. The full list can be found on the Forum’s website and below.
The companies that entered were truly exceptional and really showcase what a dynamic and thriving borough we live in.
If anyone would like to join us at the awards ceremony itself – an event designed to celebrate the best that Caerphilly business has to offer – tickets are still available for the event at Llancaiach Fawr Manor on Friday November 23. Tickets can be bought by emailing awards@cbforum.co.uk
The winners of each of these eight categories will then be put forward for the Premier Award, sponsored by Broomfield and Alexander.
