Extra trains put on for Wales vs Argentina match

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 13:30, Friday November 9th, 2012.

Arriva Trains Wales has confirmed it is putting on extra trains for this weekend’s international rugby match in Cardiff

Wales take on Argentina at the Millennium Stadium at 2.30pm on Saturday and around 75,000 fans are expected at the stadium. Train services are expected to be very busy.

Passengers are asked to arrive in plenty of time for their journey, as services are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

A queuing system will be in place at Cardiff Central station after the match and Queen Street station will be closed as usual after 3.30pm.

Jonathan Goode, Special Events and Security Manager for Arriva Trains Wales, said: “Additional capacity will be provided, however we would like to remind passengers that seats will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

“If travellers are not attending the match we would strongly advise them to travel at a different time to avoid the crowds. Every effort is made to provide as much additional capacity as possible for major events in Cardiff and all our available trains will be in use.”
