Have your say on Caerphilly buses

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 09:00, Monday September 28th, 2009.

Bus passengers across Caerphilly County Borough will get the chance to have their say about their local services on Friday at a bus users’ surgery.

Organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council and passenger watchdog Bus Users UK, the surgery is being held at the new park and ride car park at Newbridge train station on October 2 at 2pm.

Bus users will be able to speak face to face with bosses from transport firm Stagecoach at the event.

Barclay Davies, of Bus Users UK, said: “The Bus User Surgery is a really good opportunity for bus users to talk directly with the bus operators in their area and it will hopefully be the start of long term grass roots consultation with the aim of improving bus services.

“At the surgery, details of all points raised are taken and replies sent by the operators or local authorities to those people attending. It is often difficult for bus users to understand the actions of commercial bus operators and difficult for bus operators to fully understand the needs of users. People often don’t know who is responsible for providing bus services in their area or who they should contact when things go wrong. I hope that as many people as possible will come along and talk to us.”

In my opinion and what i see, bus operator, and drivers are doing they,r best to run a good service, caerphilly, but are being let down badly by the council/highways.The only way it can be explained is they have to struggle around the bus routes, bus drivers are not aloud to complain, 1 the bus stopes have vehicles parked on them,2 bus routes vehicles parked that it makes it sometimes unsafe to move,or if you do you have a high risk of hitting another parked vehicle,no body to call for help,3 other routes you need a space to pullin when other vehicle approch, but you can cars parked in them there is a honest need for a traffic controler/traffic warden in caerphilly council area.I know all this because until recently,i was a bus driver now i am also a bus user.I did start taking pictures but the people i give them to was not intrested, people of caerphilly need the buses.
