Penyrheol man in bid to raise more cash for Velindre Hospital with second Cardiff walk

Clive Pike is walking to Cardiff to raise money for Velindre Hospital

A Penyrheol man is hoping to raise thousands of pounds more for Velindre Hospital in a second charity march from Caerphilly to Cardiff.

Last year, Clive Pike, 48, raised more than £5,500 by walking the seven-and-a-half miles from town centre to city centre.

Mr Pike is undertaking the challenge after being inspired by his wife Rowena, 49, who is currently battling cancer.

Clive, who was last year joined by around 30 friends on the trek, will set off from Caerphilly bandstand at 10am.

Helping feed the army of fundraisers, who will be collecting with buckets on the way, are Peter’s Pies, based in Bedwas, and water company Brecon Carreg who have donated supplies for the walk.

Caerphilly Mountain Snack Bar has also offered free hot drinks to walkers before their descent into Cardiff.
