A commercial vehicle company based in Bedwas has signed a deal to become a main distributor for a major truck and van firm.
Glenside Commercials Ltd, based on Bedwas House Industrial Estate, is now the main distributor in South East Wales for Iveco.
The company, which last summer moved into a bespoke new admin and workshop complex on land it bought in Bedwas, previously sold Iveco Daily vans as one of the services it offered commercial vehicle operators.
Now it will be selling the full range of vehicles, from light commercial vans, such as the Daily, to the Stralis HGV with a gross weight of up to 44 tonnes and the specialist Trakker heavy truck designed to operate on any terrain.
The company, which was established in Caerphilly in 1993, provides a full range of services to commercial vehicle operators including repair, maintenance and a 24-hour breakdown and recovery service.
Glenside employs more than 70 people, including a team of mobile refrigeration engineers and staff based in workshop and office complexes in Caerphilly and in Croydon in South London.
Managing Director Mark Lovering said: “We’ve been working with Iveco for ten years now, covering the area as an authorised repairer.
“Ultimately, we had the connections and the understanding of the Welsh market they were looking for. Now we’ll be selling the full range of award-winning Iveco vehicles and providing spare parts and repairs too from our complex in Bedwas which is just 10 minutes from the M4 and the A470 and easily reached from all over South and Mid Wales.
“We’re obviously delighted. Our core business has grown steadily over the years and there have been several notable milestones as we’ve expanded our repertoire of services but this is certainly a significant development in the company’s growth.”
