Children in a Caerphilly town primary school have helped to design road signs to remind motorists to slow down outside their school.

The speed limit outside Ysgol Y Castell, on Crescent Road, was recently reduced to 20mph and the school launched a competition for pupils to design signs to accompany the new 20mph speed limit signs.

Beca Evans Lugg, aged nine, was the lucky winner with her innovative design of geese crossing the road – a rare sight that is only seen in one place in the county borough – opposite Caerphilly Castle where the school is located.

Beca, along with three runners up were presented with their artwork and prizes by the Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council, Cllr Gaynor Oliver.
